6 Genius Ways To Make Your Dorm Room Smell Good Without Candles

This post is all about ways to make your dorm room smell good without candles.

ways to making your dorm room smell amazing without candles

Dorm rooms can get smelly fast. No wonder, since you're basically doing every single thing in there.

You eat, sweat, get ready, do homework, and maybe even occasionally throw up (it is college and I wanted to add anything that would smell bad :/).

Moral of that all, dorm rooms freakin' smell.

And the biggest issue with all of that: Dorms don't allow you to have candles.

Here are genius ways on ways to make your dorm room smell good without candles.

1. Use a plug-in air freshener.

YOU GUYS! This keeps my room smelling so good. Last year, I used different scents from Bath and Body Works and they smelled amazing but this year I opted for a cheaper version and it smells just as good.

Right now, I am using this air freshener in the vanilla scent. I believe it was less than $4 dollars. I have only changed it once throughout this whole year and our room remains smelling so good. Like so good that people will walk in there and ask how we are making our room smell that good.

Also, last year one of my guy friends ended up having a really rough night and his room smelled disgusting (here's where the throwup comes in...) and begged me for my wall plugin. He ended up buying it from me because it made his room smell so much better. So, basically, you should definitely be purchasing one of these!

2. Put essential oils in your humidifier.

When I got to school I noticed that my skin got super dry. It started peeling and was just gross so I bought a humidifier from home and have used it ever since. A few weeks ago I was at the store and they had some essential oils and thought I would add a few drops into the humidifier and see if it made the room smell better.

While it isn't super strong, it gives just a hint of smell which leaves the room feeling so refreshed! I am about to go back and purchase the lemon scent so that I can put it in the humidifier while I am cleaning.

You could also buy the traditional diffuser which I hear works great! Here's a cute one that is really inexpensive on Amazon.

3. Get Febreze scented trash bags.

This is a total game changer. It honestly eliminates the smell of anything you put in your trashcan.

If you are in college or going to college, I highly recommend getting a pack of these. Since you are doing so much in your dorm, a lot of different things end up in your trashcan and sometimes you forget to take it out...for a while. No one will know that you haven't taken it out for two weeks with these trash bags because they are that good.

And last time I am going to circle back to throw up (sorry guys...I think we can just all agree that this can make your room smell disgusting)... but, these hide every scent of that puke. I, unfortunately, have had this one tested in my dorm room :/.

4. Put dryer sheets in your shoe drawer and fan.

Most of us have dryer sheets in our rooms already, so take one out and shove it inside your fan. It will blow the smell of the sheet around your room and make it smell like you just did your laundry.

I like to also shove this in shoes that start smelling bad and in my sock/underwear drawer to make it smell better.

It's a super easy and inexpensive way to make your room smell really good. You can also reuse dryer sheets that you used to do your laundry...they still hold a lot of smell!

5. Get a wax melt warmer.

This will probably be the closest thing to a candle for your dorm room.

The thing I like about this one so much is that it gives a similar "feeling" to having a candle lit.

One of my favorite things to do when I have a free night is to get in my comfiest pajamas, light a candle, and watch some shows that I need to catch up on.

This fills my void while I am at school even though it isn't the same exact thing.

Bath and Body Works just came out with wax melts which is amazing because you can get the same smell as their candles but for WAY cheaper! The wax melts are less than $5 dollars each and last a really long time.

These really do smell up your space, so I highly recommend trying this out. You can get a wax melt warmer from here.

6. Put a car freshener on your radiator.

You know those car scents that attach to the air condition vent thing (can you tell I am not a car person;)? You can actually attach those to the vent on your air conditioner/heat system in your dorm room and it will do the exact same thing!

I actually saw this idea on Pinterest and thought it was really clever.

This is another extremely inexpensive idea, so if you happen to see one of these air fresheners at the store, pick it up! Let me know if it works :).

Your dorm can start smelling bad and it's always good to know ways to make your dorm room smell good without candles.

Have you ever thought about how much nicer dorm living would be if they didn't have that long list of items that you weren't allowed to have? While that list doesn't allow you to have candles, these six substitutes will still give you that amazing smelling room you crave.

The Secret To Making Your Blog Look Professional

Want to know how to make your website look beautifully designed even if you're not a website designer?! I'm showing you all the best tips + tricks to getting a professional looking website.

blog design by sophia lee-01

First impressions can be crucial. Unfortunately, the world we live in can be extremely judgemental. We automatically judge people by the way they look, dress, and function.

The same exact thing happens with your blog.

Did you know a survey put out by Microsoft found that attention spans only last 8 seconds?

That means you only have 8 seconds to prove to your readers that they should continue reading your website. When starting a blog, you want to make sure that it's designed well enough to retain your reader's attention.

Now, don't worry, that sounds hard but it's actually REALLY easy!

I'm showing you the best ways to design your website in a way that is easy, affordable, and most importantly, looks really dang good.

First things first, I only teach blogging for self-hosted websites. If you are looking to start a blog of your own, I have created a step-by-step tutorial on the easiest and fastest way to start a blog for just $2.95 per month. It's the exact way I started my blog that now makes over 5-figures A MONTH!

How Important Is A Well Designed Website

I am a HUGE believer in the better your website looks, the more serious your readers will take you.

I guess you need to think about it from your own perspective...

If you went to a website that looked like it was professionally put together and then went to another website with the SAME exact content but looked like a disaster, which one would you want to read more?! I know for me, I definitely would continue reading the one that looked professionally designed.

I know a lot of things are overwhelming when starting a blog and, luckily, the design of your website doesn't have to be one of those.

How To Design Your Website

The secret to making your website look professionally designed is through website themes. A theme is a template designed by a professional website developer who then sells them.

Again, the themes I talk about are only for self-hosted websites. If you don't know what that means, check out this post!

This is one of my TOP tips for new bloggers: Spend the small amount of money that it costs and get a website theme. Themes start at just $10 dollars, so it won't break the bank but it will make a huge impact.

I do not recommend trying to design your website yourself. Unless you are a professional website designer of course ;). The reason for this is because if you touch any part of the coding you shouldn't, it is extremely hard to get back to where you were before.

STORY TIME - I actually tried touching the coding of my website last summer (2019 so when I was fully established) and my ENTIRE WEBSITE DELETED. I had to call the emergency line of my website host, cried for hours, and thought my entire business was over. HAH! I will never touch my coding everrrr again)

Setting up a website from scratch is extremely difficult and time-consuming (and downright frustrating).

The way your website looks is important but getting blog posts out to get readers to your website is even MORE important. I recommend getting a website theme so you can save the time it would take to design a website and put the time into publishing content.

My Website Theme

My personal website theme is from 17th Avenue Designs. It is the "Amelia" theme.

All of the themes are designed from a feminine and functional viewpoint. These themes are BEAUTIFUL and the customer service is amazing. If I ever have a question about something, I get an email back very quickly on exactly how to solve the problem I'm having.

17th Avenue themes range from $35 to $69 dollars. This is an amazing price for a fully designed website. It is a one time cost so once you purchase a theme, you never have to purchase one again.

These themes are all mobile responsive which is an absolute non-negotiable in this day and age (honestly no website designer should even be offering a theme if it isn't mobile-friendly).

Click this link to head to 17th Avenue Designs and you can see exactly how the theme works on your desktop or phone.

I DID pay extra to have them set up my website and it was 100% worth it. I think it was like $75 extra so definitely something to consider since it's pricier. Otherwise, they give you VERY detailed instructions on how to set it up on your own!

**As I am writing this, I am actually in the process of getting my website custom designed! It should be going live in September 2020. I am SO excited but it's costing me a lot of $$$. This is why I recommend starting with a website theme. This $60 17th Avenue theme helped me grow my blog to 5-figures a month!

Another place that has really good themes is Etsy. You can find so many great options. This is actually how I first found 17th Avenue Designs.

You can find extremely affordable themes here! Some are only $10.

I can't speak for the quality of all of them but make sure to check out the comments / reviews and if they look good, go for it. I have bought two themes from Etsy and they were both great experiences.

While I don't publish income reports on my blog anymore, I do send them directly to your email. I go through how I made over $40,000 in May 2020. You can get my latest income report sent to your inbox instantly by clicking the button below.

What to Look For When Purchasing a Theme

When purchasing a theme, you want to make sure that a few specific things are included.

The most important things to look for are:

  • Is the theme compatible with other browsers and devices? You want to make sure that it is compatible with everything since people will be coming through many different web browsers. A theme needs to be able to adapt to different sized screens, mobile devices, and website browsers.
  • What can you customize? The description of the theme should list what you are able to change. Can you change the font? The color? The heading? These are all things that you will want to look into.
  • Does the theme adapt to WordPress updates? This is very important because you want to make sure that the theme will remain the way it looks even through WordPress updates (which happen pretty often).

How I Design My Actual Blog Posts

I get many questions on how I actually design my blog posts. At first, I started using the generic WordPress post editor and I used that for the first year.

Which BTW, if you are using the new gutenberg update and can't figure out how it works, download the Classic Editor plugin. It will take it back to how WordPress was a few years back (like when I started) and it is SO MUCH EASIER. I literally couldn't figure out how to use the new update.

After that, I wanted to get a little more advanced with how my blog posts looked so I invested in Thrive Architect.

This allows me to drag and drop different things into my website and do SO MUCH more with blog posts!!

You can see what it looks like in the picture above. I just screenshotted my current screen while I write this post so you can see exactly how it looks.

It shows your website exactly how it's going to look like when the post gets published.

It's how I get the Amazon buttons below my pictures and really how I do everything. I will say there is a huge negative which is that my ad network doesn't work with it so I manually have to place my ads. Not a big deal though and something I deal with because using Thrive Architect makes life SO much easier when writing posts.

Check out their website. It's really cool how much you can do with Thrive Architect.

Ways to Show Your Boyfriend You Love Him | 22 Insanely Cute Ways to Say “I Love You” To Your Boyfriend

This post is all about ways to show your boyfriend you love him.

Humans thrive on being told how much they mean to other people, and out of everyone, your boyfriend especially wants to hear how much he means to you.

According to an elite singles psychologist, "Saying 'I love you' is more efficient than any other phrase. But saying it every day can seem a bit excessive. The heavy meaning of the three words may be lost over time, that's why it is best to be reasonable and save it for special moments."

It is important to always remind your significant other how much you love him, but showing him is a completely different story.

Sometimes I just have random thoughts and think, "I am so dang lucky to have such a great guy". I think about how much he does for me and wonder what do I do for him... and this is where I realize that I need to step my game up!

Saying those three words is a must in your relationship, but showing your love can spice your relationship up and prove that you really do care. {BTW, if you haven't gotten to that "step" of saying I love you, these are the perfect ways to show you DO without straight out saying it!!}

Here are three benefits of telling your significant other how much they mean to you:

-It shows commitment.

-It makes your partner feel secure.

-It creates a moment between you two.

These 22 creative ideas on ways to show your boyfriend you love him will show him just how much you care.

Cheesy Ways To Say "I Love You"

I am not a gushy person at all when it comes to relationships, but sometimes doing a "cheesy" gift is just what is needed! While not everyone might agree with me that these are all cheesy, these will definitely put a smile on your boyfriend's face (while making him feel just a little uncomfortable ;).

  • Make a gift certificate book for him.
  • Go an entire day without saying anything but positive remarks towards your partner.
  • Write him a song
  • Put sticky notes in random places that he will find later.
  • Write him a small letter every day about something he did that you loved and give it to him at the end of the month.
  • Order a heart-shaped pizza for dinner.
  • Throw a grown-up slumber party for the two of you.
  • Give a 365-day jar to him.
  • Make him a gift and surprise him with it in the mail.

Romantic Ways To Say "I Love You"

What is a better way to show him you love him than with a little romance?

Not all of these are "romance" but they are all something romantic that will make him feel so special! This really is a win-win because it will have you feeling the love while doing these things too!

  • Tell them what makes them so special.
  • Send an intimate text for no reason.
  • Remind your partner that they are really good looking.
  • Plan a candlelit dinner.
  • Schedule a couples massage. (I am IN!)
  • Pray for him.
  • Give him a kiss when you see him after a while.
  • Give him a kiss as you say goodbye to him.
  • Create a relationship soundtrack (about this...if you want a "romantic" playlist, my friends made one on Spotify and it's really funny/good)
  • Write your love story and frame it for him.
  • Compliment him twice a day.
  • Take a drive to a place nowhere is and channel your high school days.

Actions That Show Your Love

These are the perfect actions to show how much you love your boyfriend. I love this section because these are things that he will visually see you doing and putting effort towards.

Plus, these are all FUN! Okay, minus the chores one, but everything else allows you to do something that you might not have normally done on a normal day.

  • Post something about how much you care about them on social media.
  • Hide a card in their bag and surprise them.
  • Leave notes in unexpected places.
  • Give them a surprise massage.
  • Do a chore that he hates to do.
  • Stop everything that you are doing and give him your full attention (SO important!).
  • Make his favorite meal.
  • Surprise him with a nerf gun war.
  • Order a game he loved to play when he was a kid and surprise him with it.
  • Plan a day revisiting all of your "firsts".
  • Plan a night for him and all his guy friends to do something together.

Not only will these show your man how much you love him, but they're also fun for you! I am going to pick one of these to do each day and see if he catches on and says anything...

These 22 ideas on how to say I love you will spice up your relationship and make it stronger than ever. Give some a try!

How To Throw The Best Graduation Party | 10 Ways To Make Your Grad Party The Best Of The Year

This post is all about how to throw the best graduation party.

graduation party tips

You've thought about your graduation party for years now, but its finally time to actually yours. You have thought back to previous years and wondered what made those "best grad party of the year" parties so great.

When I graduated high school two years ago, I was so concerned about having a grad party that would be remembered by everyone.

I sat on Pinterest for house looking to find some inspiration (which btw, Pinterest has like no good grad party inspiration!!). After throwing my own grad party and attending what feels like 100 others, I have come up with the 10 things that all the best and most memorable graduation parties had.

This post shows you 10 ways on how to have the best graduation party of the year.

1. Food is the most important part.

Let's be real, everyone always cares about the food. If your decorations suck but the food was amazing, people will remember your party as a great time. So, if you're going to nail one thing, have it be this ;).

There's a lot of different directions you can go about what type of food to have. The best parties I have been to had a full meal (and not just little snacks). For my graduation party, we had a ton of different dinner options for people to choose from (and I am almost positive there was vegetarian options as well). We had a sandwich of sorts (I believe baked ham), chips, fruit, and salad. We then catered in a few things like BBQ pulled chicken, mac n' cheese, and another fruit salad. Ya know classic party food that people always like.

For my sister's graduation party last year, they ended up getting a ton of different pizzas and displayed them on really cute cake platters. They had a bunch of different sides that went great with pizza and it was a big hit (while being super easy!).

HOWEVER, if you're willing to fork out some cash, a food truck is so much fun!! We tried to get a food truck at our party but they were all booked so if you're considering doing that decide now to book it! Yes, it could be a little more expensive but if you and your parents don't want to deal with the food part of the party, get a food truck. It makes a statement and is (usually) so good. Honestly, the parties from my high school that had this, got a ton of talk about how good it was just because of the food truck.

2. Have decorations from start to finish.

I had the same theme for my party from start to finish. On the invitations, I carried the same "logo" of sorts into a bunch of other parts of my party.

I had my graduation party with my friend at her house (she has a beautiful backyard!) which was in the middle of the neighborhood. While most people did know where her house was, I made signs that you could put at the front of the neighborhood streets letting all the guests know that this is where the party is. Below is a picture of what I am talking about. If money and time weren't an issue, I would have done flowers draping on top of it, instead of balloons.

We also incorporated our theme through all the lettering and even our Snapchat filter. I went on Pinterest and found a font that I really liked and downloaded that to my computer. I then printed it out how big I wanted it, and would trace it onto all the wood that I wanted to paint for signs. It was a cute way of making everything look like it belonged together.

Moral of this all, try to keep your theme constant! It will make it look much more put together.

 3. Incorporate a photo wall.

Having a specifically decorated wall that people can take pictures in front of is so cute AND gives them something to do. People also will put the pics on social media and make your party look really good.

You can make a photo wall super easily, so I would look at Pinterest for inspiration. For mine, I wanted to incorporate the year I graduated and wanted it to be big enough for enough people to fit in. I also didn't want it to be too "busy" so I kept it pretty simple.

My friend I had the party with is an amazing artist, so she actually made this. She made it by going to Home Depot and getting two boards of wood. She then painted them with the design we wanted and we put them together leaning up against a wall that had enough room.

We didn't have a ton of extra props for the wall but Target did have some in their party section that had champagne, a mustache, congrats sign, etc. So check there if you are looking for something like that!

4. Have really freaking good desserts.

Here it is again: the food! I think we can all agree that desserts are a must at a graduation party. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant but you need something.

For my graduation party, we got desserts catered in, had my boyfriends mom make her famous Rice Krispies, and got a sheet cake from Costco. Nothing too fancy, but all delicious.

NOW, for my sister's graduation party, I wanted to do something that was a little "cuter". So, I made a donut wall! I got a peg board from HomeDepot cut to the size I wanted and then put little dowels where I wanted the donuts to go. It was really cute but I think people were scared to eat a donut and ruin the look of the wall, SO if you are going to make this for your party take one or two off in the center so people know that they can take it off and eat one :).

5. Give your guests things to do.

There is nothing worse than bored guests. Sure, guests will just talk for a little bit after a while, they want something to do.

Some of the best activities I had at my party or that I have seen done is yard games, volleyball court, karaoke (so fun, especially if people are a little tipsy), blowup jump houses, and bowling. At my party, we also had a video slideshow going of pictures of my friend and I while growing up (I think this is pretty standard at graduation parties now).

It doesn't have to be anything over the top, you just really don't want guests to be bored.

dorm room essentials
6. Have a memorable wall for guests to look at of you growing up.

The whole part of graduation parties is to celebrate how far you have come and almost the "ending" of your childhood. Almost all graduation parties have pictures from when you were growing up, so figure out a way to present it that is super cute!

Since my party was for two people, we both each got our own board. The boards I made were put together from pallets and then were stained. We got our pallets from my boyfriends' dads company, but there are literally pallets everywhere so check around and you will be able to find some. We stained the pallets with a color we liked and then nailed our pictures into it. I also got another piece of wood where I painted our names and where we were going to college. Here are two pictures of my board and then my friend's board (below).

7. Decorating the eating tables with some type of centerpiece.

First things first: If you can figure out a way to NOT use plastic table clothes, you are a serious winner. I know they are much more expensive, but it looks so much better!

Now to the main point, put something in the center of your eating tables to make them look a little better. It could be flowers, pictures of you, your high school mascots, really anything!

It will make it look a lot more interesting than just not having anything there.

Seriously, music is so important. I personally suck at music, but my friend has a killer music taste so she put together the playlist.

Make sure that your songs go the length of the party (or loop them if they don't) and that you have loud enough speakers! Have some "cool" songs in there but also add classics like Sweet Caroline and Brown Eyed Girl. I also personally wouldn't add any inappropriate songs because of adults and families but hey, if that's your thing, then go for it!

Check Spotify for stations too. I am sure hundreds of people have created playlists for their grad parties that you might be able to use for yours.

{READ: The Secret To Throwing A Graduation Party People Will Remember}

9. Places for people to sit.

This one is simple, but make sure that your party has enough seating for everyone! At first, people will be standing and talking, but after awhile they will want to sit down and eat.

Nothing is worse (dramatic, obviously;) than not having seats for all your guests so they have to eat standing up or sit on the floor. Just a little thought that not everyone thinks about!

10. Have alcohol.

I may get some stick with this one, but I am very serious. The graduation parties where there was alcohol were the best parties. I know that you are not legally old enough to drink BUT from my own grades experience, parents loosen up an insane amount about drinking after you graduate high school. And, since most graduation parties have families there, the parents of the kids will probably be there.

And honestly, drunk parents are so much more fun than sober parents.

At my graduation party, we had jello shots and a margarita bar. OF COURSE, the high schoolers weren't "allowed" to drink the alcohol but mysteriously a lot of it disappeared and the adults claimed they didn't drink it all so someone had to have... you get it;).

Obviously, this is not a must, but I would at least ask your parents if they would consider serving alcohol.

Tips on How To Make A Long-Distance Relationship Last | 5 Things People In Successful Long Distance Relationships Are Doing

This post is all about tips on how to make a long-distance relationship last.

things people in successful long distance relationships do everday

Long distance relationships are NOT easy and can often leave you wondering if it's even worth it. You never get to see them, you're running out of things to talk about, AND you guys are starting to fight about the stupidest things.

BUT, you know it's worth sticking it out through this hard time because soon before you know it you will be back together for good. Plus, you love him and could never see yourself with anyone else.

Long distance relationships don't always work, but there's a constant theme for the ones that do last through all those hard times.

Here are 5 common tips on how to make a long-distance relationship last that will take your rocky relationship into one that is better than it has ever been.

1. They make it a priority to talk on the phone every day.

Life always manages to be busy and a lot of days fly by without you even knowing what you did. However, putting aside at least five minutes to talk to your boyfriend and ask him about his day is a crucial part of still feeling like you're apart of his life even when you are miles away from each other.

I have been in a long distance relationship for two years, and I know first hand that the same old conversation gets boring. You begin hearing the same thing every single day so switch it up every once in awhile and think of some deep questions to ask your boyfriend. Ask about his future plans, the next vacation he wants to go on, what movie he wants to see next, etc. OR, plan the next date you are going to go on when you are together.

{RELATED: 42 Best Deep Questions To Ask Your Significant Other}

While texting each other is better than nothing (and sometimes all you can do!), successful long distance relationships make it a priority to talk on the phone or Facetime to really discuss what is happening in each other's lives.

2. Spontaneously tell each other that you love them.

It is really easy to not feel like you are important when you are miles away from your boyfriend (and vice versa). When you are close to each other it is so much easier to be able to show how much you appreciate them. But, when you're long distance, there is only so much you can do. A simple surprise text here and there throughout the week can show your significant other that even though are you far away from each other, they are SO important to you.

A simple reminder text on just how much they mean to you can make someone feel so special and brighten there day. Your partner should never have to question how much you care about them and a simple "I love you" or "I am thinking about you" sent occasionally could change the whole dynamic of your relationship.

Try it right now! I bet he will love to see that. And who knows, maybe he will start sending you nice texts too;)

{RELATED: 5 Must-Know Ways To Make Your Long Distance Relationship Last}

3. They are 100% truthful to each other.

This is the hardest part about long distance relationships. You basically live two separate lives. The life you live when he is with you and the life you live when he is gone. It is especially difficult when you are in college because they are constantly meeting new people you don't know (or trust) and going out at night.

The most successful relationships tell each other everything so that when one of you is out at night, the other one has complete trust that they are being faithful.

This also goes with the fact that if there is an issue that is bothering you, they NEED to know. Being petty from miles away isn't as effective because most of the time they cant tell you're being petty and take the hint! You have to be way more straightforward about the issues that you are feeling.

4. Their relationship is one of their top priorities.

This is a key to all successful relationships but especially so of long-distance ones. Like I said before, life can get really busy and you can forget to put your relationship as number one. Make time for each other and plan special things that you can enjoy even far away.

A personal favorite of mine is a Facetime date. Both of you go get your favorite takeout at the same time, eat it "together", and then go watch one of your favorite shows or movies. You could also plan when you will see each other next, what you will do, places to explore, etc.

Just that "date night" feel will make it seem like you aren't so far away.

5. And (debatably) the most important...Keep that spark alive!

6 Extremely Easy Ways to Make $100 Dollars

This post is all about easy ways to make $100 dollars.

easy ways to make an extra $100 quick

Look, we all could use a little extra money.

Those shoes you saw that girl on Instagram wear? $65.00. You just realized your boyfriends birthday is only a month away? At least $100. Or maybe you have finally come to the realization that those loans you took out for college, are in fact, real money that you have to pay back.

Moral of all of this, knowing easy ways to make $100 dollars can help us all.

Last month I really focused on ways that I could bring in some extra money because my $200 a month from nannying was not cutting it. I ended up doing some "odd jobs" and was able to put an extra $600 towards my car payment in ONE month!! And honestly, the ways I made that extra money were SO easy. It barely took me any time and had a huge payoff.

This post shows you six easy ways to make $100 dollars.

Easy Ways To Make $100 Dollars: UserTesting

Usertesting dashbboard

(Not my pic, but thought it would be helpful to show that you CAN earn money!)

Usertesting is one of my favorite ways ever to make money because they pay you  $10 for reviewing a website or app and get you the money within two weeks (tried and tested by me, so it's accurate!). How it works is they give you a list of tasks and you have to record your voice going through the notions of whatever they are telling you to do and giving your opinion on it.

So, for example, let's say I put By Sophia Lee on UserTesting. It would tell you, "Find the section on By Sophia Lee where you can see easy ways to make money." If I was doing the test, I would then record myself (through headphones.. I just use my Apple headphones) talking out loud saying how I went to the upper right part of the website and clicked on "money". It's as easy as that!

After you are done they have you answer a few questions that take less than two minutes. It really does take you in total for everything less than 15 minutes which is SO good for paying $10 dollars in return. They send the money straight to your Paypal account (which is free if you don't have one) and from there you can either use it on Paypal or get it sent to your bank account.

I just found Usertesting last month, and I am obsessed. It is so easy and actually fun. You have to "apply" to the program and do a trial run so they can make sure your headphones work and that they can hear you but that takes only 10ish minutes. I heard back from them within a week that I was accepted and just a week and a half later got paid for the first time!!

If you're going to try anything on this list, try UserTesting. It is definitely worth the amount of time it takes for what you can make. I have read that some people did a test a day and ended up making over $300 in just one month.

BTW, this isn't an affiliate... I truly love Usertesting!

Easy Ways To Make $100 Dollars: Babysitting

The BEST thing about babysitting is that you can make great money in a little time and people everywhere need babysitters. Depending on where you live, you can make $18 dollars or more an hour and in just one night bring in $100 easily. Plus, if you babysit at night, you really don't have to do a lot because they just go to sleep :).

I have found a TON of my babysitting jobs from Care.com. People all the time are looking for date night sitters. I have the free membership with Care and have put a friendly looking pictures of me up and then written a paragraph or two about my experience with children. Most parents will want to call you to make sure you sound suitable to watch their kids, but it really is easy to get a quick babysitting in here and there for some extra cash.

ALSO, I see ads up all the time around my school that families put up looking for babysitters. Check those out at your campus, you might get lucky!

Secret Shopper

Being a secret shopper is so easy and you get paid really well. I tried this for the first time last month at Best Buy and had to act like I was buying a TV and a GPS. My acting was pretty good on the TV buying but the second I asked to buy a GPS I think they knew that something was up ;).

I was in and out of there in 15 minutes and got paid $14 dollars. They paid me through a check I received in the mail about two weeks after I did the secret shopping.

Around where I live, there are a ton of car dealerships looking for secret shoppers so if you want to spend a day with your boyfriend and pretend to buy some cars, it could be a fun date that pays for itself! (SIDE NOTE: They often have secret shopping trips that will have you go to the car dealership and get your oil done... they pay for your oil AND pay you to see how they did...win-win!).

I find my secret shopping jobs from Bestmark and highly recommend you go with this company if you are going to try out secret shopping. If you do, put this code in for me as your referral:WI21500. It doesn't do anything to you, just gives me a dollar or two for recommending them to you. Help a sister out πŸ˜‰

Easy Ways To Make $100 Dollars: Open A Second Bank Account

I LOVE to organize my money and my favorite way is through separate bank accounts. I have them all under the same bank but have different categories that I can organize different amounts of money in. This has led me to open a LOT of bank accounts :). {READ: The Life-Changing Method of Organizing Your Bank Accounts}.

BUT, something a lot of people don't think about, a TON of banks have incentives for you to open a bank account with them. I often see ones like, "Open a checking account and get $25 dollars FREE!". Not only are you getting your finances together and will help you save more money, but you are also getting some free money.

Go to your local bank and see if they are offering any special deals.

Easy Ways To Make $100 Dollars: Try Paribus.

This is something I just heard about that has me REALLY curious. Paribus is a free website that finds refunds customers are owed through your email account and online receipts. It is completely safe and has been saved over $6.5 million in refunds.

I buy stuff online all the time (guilty πŸ˜‰ and things always go on sale right after I buy them. Paribus can see if something goes on sale and will get me that refund of the price difference.

I actually just signed up for this while I was researching it for this post and it took less than 2 minutes. I will update this in a month or so and see if I have made any money from it!

There are so many companies these days that make it extremely easy to do this like Letgo, Poshmark, and even Facebook marketplace.

I am planning on going through all my clothes this month actually and listing whatever I don't want online. The nice things about all these websites are that they are free to join and make it super easy for you to sell things.

I am also going to list some other things I don't want like jewelry and decoration items which might be something you could do as well.

Easy Ways To Make $100 Dollars: Sell your old electronics on Gazelle.

This is another website I am trying this month that allows you to sell your old electronics. I have so many old iPhones, Ipads, and even iPods that are just taking up wasted space in my room. On Gazelle, you can get a quote in less than a minute on how much they will pay you for your electronics.

Anything that is worth more than a dollar (aka basically everything) ships for free. they pay you super fast through Paypal, Amazon, or check.

This is another one I will update in a month after seeing how much I get!

This Is How Michelle Paid Off $38,000 Of Student Loans In 7 Months

Sophia's Note: Today we have an interview from Michelle of Making Sense With Cents. She paid off $38,000 of student loans in 7 months (insane!!).

I am a huge fan of Michelle's and really listen to her advice. I also have purchased her course Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing which she teaches you exactly how she uses affiliate marketing to make over $100,000 a month. I highly recommend it!

BTW, she started making that amount after she paid off her debt, so her debt payoff story is very relatable!

What did you major in and where? Do you believe your investment in your education has paid off?

I have three college degrees. Two undergraduate degrees from Webster University (a small private university in St. Louis) - one in Business and one in Management. I also have my Finance MBA from University of Missouri St. Louis.

One of the most common questions I'm asked about is if I regret going to school for so many college degrees, especially now that I'm a full-time blogger. I do think it was worthwhile for a few different reasons. One being that I probably never would have started my blog if it weren't for my student loans. Haha! I started Making Sense of Cents so that I could openly talk about my student loans and find ways to pay it off.

I do think that having a Finance MBA has helped me with my own business too, though. Through my MBA and the career I had as an analyst, I learned about business accounting, business law, managing a business, economics, business finances, marketing, advertising, and more. These are all things you should know about when running your own business. Sure, you can outsource a lot of these tasks, but for most start-ups, you may personally have to take on many of these tasks, especially in the beginning.

When did you first start your journey of paying off your student loans and what was the first step in this process?

I started my journey of paying off my student loans right around the time that I was graduating with my Finance MBA. The first step in the process was adding up my student loans. So many people do not realize how much student loan debt they actually have, and this can be a great first step and reality check so that you know how much you are dealing with.

What type of loan did you take out? Variable or fixed? Did you consolidate your loans at the end? Would you choose a different type of loan if you did it today?

All of my student loans were fixed-rate loans. I did not consolidate my student loans. I do not think I'd choose a different type of student loan, instead, I would choose to not take out so much student loan debt!

It appears that side income was a huge way you got rid of your student loan debt so quickly.  Did you have a favorite form of side income you would recommend to college students?

Yes, learning about the many different ways to make extra money was the most important thing that I did to pay off my student loans. It was tough working 100+ hour work weeks, but it was well worth it to pay off my student loans in just 7 months. Some of the things I did to make extra money include selling items on eBay, mystery shopping, taking surveys, staff writing, and more. The best thing I did was start my own business, though - Making Sense of Cents. That's where the majority of my debt payoff income came from.

Working full-time and graduating college (with two degrees) in 2.5 years seems nearly impossible! How did you manage your time to be able to do this?

Ha, it was definitely tough! Staying motivated was definitely key. Whereas others around me were taking 4, 5 or 6+ years to graduate from college, I just kept thinking about how I would be done really soon. I'm not going to lie, though, I'm very good at acing exams without studying, so that saved me a lot of time. It was a lot about actually paying attention during class, and making sure that all of my classes and work schedule flowed together perfectly. Whereas some people may take an hour or more break between class or to go to work, I made sure there was absolutely no time wasted at all. This meant a lot of long days, such as from 7 am to 10 pm, Monday through Friday, but it all paid off in the end. I was just 20 when I graduated from college, bought my first house right beforehand too!

Did you have a certain method to paying off your debt? (Example: Pay off debt with highest interest first).

I paid off my debt from highest interest rate to smallest. This way I wasn't paying any more in interest than I had to.

If you had to give advice to someone that is in college today, what would it be?

My top piece of advice would be to not take out so much in student loans. It seems like the average college student takes out extra student loans, more than they actually need. Student loans are NOT free money, and shouldn't be treated as such. While buying that shirt or going out to the bar may seem appealing now, you'll probably regret it if you're still paying your student loans back a decade or two later.

I am so inspired by Michelle and LOVE her drive. I feed off of other peoples hard work and the amount Michelle has been able to accomplish in so many areas, is crazy.
