So, I decided to figure out a way to DIY it, and it turned out to be such a fun project to do with my girlfriends.
I'm going to walk you through the step-by-step process of how we did it, and how you can get the look on a bangin’ budget as well!

This post is all about DIY doormat hack.
THE INSPO
SUPPLIES
Before ya get started, here are the materials you'll need:
- Plain doormat
- Letters (mine are from Michaels for around $5)
- Blue tape
- Black acrylic paint (I used a cheap one from Michaels)
- Foam brush
- Flexial Clear spray (or any clear spray that will protect your mat)
how-to
Step 1: Start with a plain doormat (I got mine from Target).
Step 2: Next, I found some letters at Michaels. I used these to spell out my message "Hellooo" on the doormat.
Step 3: Using blue tape, I positioned the letters where I wanted them to go on the doormat.
Step 4: Then, I used a foam brush to pat down the black acrylic paint onto the doormat. I made sure to apply a thick enough layer of paint to make sure they'd show up well.
Step 5: Once the paint was dry, I removed the blue tape!
Step 6: Finally, I sprayed the doormat with Flex Seal spray (or any clear spray that will protect your mat) to keep it looking brand new all season long!
There you have it!
A super easy & affordable way to create your own custom doormat; bangin' on a budget style 😜.
It's such a great project to do with friends or family, and it's a fun way to add a personal touch to your home decor.
