Do you know that you are 42% more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down?! Yeah, I didn't either. A study conducted by the Dominican University in California proved this through a goal-setting study with over 260 participants. I don't mean to get scientific on you, but that's crazy, and if you aren't using a planner yet, now's the time to start.
My planner is almost always at my side; it's my best friend and worst enemy at the same time haha. You know how buying a cute workout outfit can help excite you to go to the gym? I feel the same way when it comes to getting a cute (and useful) planner.
Planners are there to help you, not stress you out, and at the end of the day, you need to remember you control the planner, not the other way around! Using my planner, I have become more productive, efficient, and intentional about what I do every day. I have big goals, as I'm sure you do too, and using a planner allows me to map them out. Anything is possible, and sticking to your daily habits will help you get there!
I've included a few tips that I implement in my life to stay productive, and I hope you find them useful!! Remember, using a planner will make your life easier, not more stressful.
This post shows you best planners of 2022.
1. Best Overall: Day Designer
The Day Designer has everything you could ever want and more when it comes to a planner. Equipped with goal setting worksheets, annual overview, and monthly calendars, the Day Designer is one in a million.
I've had a Day Designer before and absolutely loved it. If you are someone who likes to write lists and stay organized to the last minute, this planner is perfect for you.
If you decide to get the planner, I highly recommend taking time out of your day to sit down and explore everything the planner has to offer. May sound excessive, but I was so mad that I didn't take time to look over everything in the planner because there were so many useful tools (like the goal setting worksheets) that I shoulda, coulda, woulda used if I had looked. Seriously, one of the best planners ever!
2. Best Under $15: Kodexlode Weekly & Monthly Planner
For those on a budget (or just don't want to spend a lot of money on a planner haha), this planner would be perfect for you.
If you're looking for more space to write lists, to-dos, etc. the planner has lined space for every day and a monthly calendar!
I think this is perfect for those people who don't need to write out a schedule every day and more-so want space to write out checklists. Also, I love the faux-leather look with the gold foil!!
3. Best Design: Kit Agar Femme Planner
I am obsessssseed with this planner. The design is above and beyond. I know I'm not the only one when I say the design and look of the planner has just as much to do with motivating me as writing the actual to-do list does!!
The art throughout the planner is gorgeous and completely tempts you to use it. The planner includes monthly and weekly layouts, sections for goals, and budgeting pages!! Here at BSL, we lovvee a budget, haha.
If you want a planner that will inspire you to get sh** done, this is it!
4. Most Popular: Papier "The Jag" Planner
As many of you know, I am in love with this planner. I've already gifted it to two people haha, so if that doesn't say anything, I don't know what will.
I love the designer look of this planner, and the layout makes everything extremely efficient. At the beginning of the planner, there are all the monthly calendars and pages for each month, where you get to write in detail about your goals, wish-list items, important dates, and monthly to-dos.
Everyone I have gifted this planner loves it as well. For a basic, easy to use, gorgeous planner, you really can't go wrong with this one!
5. Best for Productivity: Full Focus Planner
For the person who has to write everything down in detail, this planner is for you. The creator, Michael Hyatt, is a world-famous productivity expert with "bestselling courses and training which have helped over 100,000 high achievers around the world."
The entire planner has been strategically designed based on field-tested principals in goal-achievement, I know, amazing. The entire concept is very intriguing. I think this is going to be my planner for next year, completely up my alley!!
TIPS FOR STAYING PRODUCTIVE
1.) Before you go to bed, do a brain dump in a notebook, piece of paper, whatever you have on hand. Sleep is soo important and you don't need to be distracted with all the random things popping up in your head that you need to do tomorrow. If you write them all down, you have no need to worry about forgetting them. I honestly recommend always having a little notebook on your nightstand. Who knows, you might solve the mystery of the universe and need something to write it down on before you forget!!
2.) Before you begin working in the morning, in your planner write down 3 things you need to accomplish that day.
3.) Designate times in the day to look at emails. If you are constantly checking your emails, that means you're interrupting your brain flow!! I check my emails at the beginning of the workday, before/after lunch, and right before I finish working for the day. Many people have crazy amounts of anxiety hanging over them because of emails; you control when you see your emails, not the other way around!
4.) Focus, and put away the phone. If the task you're trying to accomplish does not require you to be on your phone, put it away (aka somewhere out of reach). I promise Instagram will be there when you are finished working. If you're worried about missing emergencies, you can put your phone on do not disturb; if it's an emergency, the person can call twice, and it will turn on the sound so you can hear it (or at least that's how my iPhone works).
5.) I recommend that everyone start a routine, and stick to it. Having a routine will allow you to go on autopilot for the things that do not need your attention. For example, my little sister Shelby wakes up at 5 am every morning to workout. I know that's crazy for many people, but it works for her because she knows that she will be able to get in a workout and be ready by 7 am for work; no need to stress about getting up on time and fitting in a workout. Find what works for you and stick to it!
Best planners for productivity:
6. Best for College: BSL College Daily Planner
I hope this doesn't come off as me just trying to sell my products, BUT when I was a student, this is legit the planner I dreamed of. There were so many things missing from the normal planners out there, and I was getting so frustrated that I decided to make on for myself!
Right after I graduated, I designed the College Planner and launched it last summer. It sold out FAST.
The planner has a boatload of things included (and not limited to hahaha had to say it): semester scheduler (fall, winter, spring, and summer), school map page, individual class planner, syllabus dates page, project planner, grade tracker, and this list goes on and on!
Seriously, I don't know what I would do without this planner. Highly recommend (you can also look at the reviews, I swear I'm not the only one who likes it haha).
COLLEGE PRODUCTIVITY TIPS:
1.) Figure out what time of the day you are most productive. This is a game-changer. When I accepted the fact that I am not productive at all after 5 PM I was able to fully rework my schedule with that in mind and become way more efficient!
2.) Work time intervals. If you can fully focus for 5+ hours without being drained, you are a superhero. For the rest of us, a lot of science has shown that 25-minute intervals seem to work best (of course there are outliers). Try setting the Pomodoro timer for 25 minutes and then taking short 3-4 minute breaks. I highly recommend looking more into this if it seems like something you'd be interested in!
3.) Surround yourself with motivating, uplifting people. This may seem farfetched and unrelated, but the people you surround yourself with have a tremendous impact on your emotion-state and productivity. If you hang out/ live with people who get up at 3 PM every day that's going to affect you just as much as hanging out with someone who complains all the time is. Choose to spend your time with people who are positive, support you, and even have big goals of their own!
Best planners for students (that Sophia approves of lol):
10. Best for Work: Panda Planner Pro
I keep hearing about how fantastic this planner is. I'm mad it's not as cute as the others haha, but the planner has thousands upon thousands of 5-star reviews on Amazon, so it has to be worth it.
The planner is scientifically designed with an approach directed towards "productivity and happiness." While researching the company, I learned that the founder created the planner after struggling with Lyme disease, a traumatic brain injury, and cancer. He took everything he had learned about positive psychology and neuroscience into a planner to get his life back on track! Based on the reviews, it seems like this might be one of the best planners out there.
Best planners for work:
11. Best for Weekly: Verishop Weekly Planner
How gorgeous is the hardcover of this planner?! I am in love. The Verishop planner is known for its weekly outline and has cute little additions to the planner, which I love (for example, a little checkbox for daily self-care, movement, and hydration)!
The planner is undated, which gives you the ability to use the entirety of the planner. They've also included for each day a meal planner, umm yes please (but c'mon, I already think about food all the time, I don't need extra reminders haha)!!
Best weekly planners:
11. Best iPad Planner: BSL iPad Daily Planner
I recently just got an iPad and everyone has been talking about how amazing iPad planners are. I will always be a paper and pen gal but it really is genius!
BSL just launched a new iPad planner that is so detailed. It's dated which is amazing and has so many helpful pages like weekly cleaning checklist, holiday gift organizer, birthdays, yearly to-dos, and more. It's also so great because each daily page has time blocking from 5am to midnight which I can never find in a planner! This planner might switch me to an iPad planner user... but TBD 😉
