This post is all about how to keep your house smelling good all the time.
If thereās one thing Iām obsessed with, itās making my house smell incredible. You know that feeling when someone walks in and the first thing they say is, āOh my god, it smells amazing in hereā? Thatās my goal every time!
Over the years, Iāve picked up a few tricks to keep my home smelling fresh and inviting, and Iām excited to share them with you. Honestly, a big part of having a great smelling home is making sure it’s clean and I have been obsessed with trying out all different types of products that can help me with this.
Hereās my top 6 ways I make my house smell good.
How To Keep Your House Smelling Good All The Time
1. Clean Your Disposal Weekly
One of the first places I tackle is my kitchen disposal. I use a specific cleaner that Iāve fallen in love with – it’s the Lemi Shine brand from Amazon!
Cleaning it once a week makes a huge difference. Trust me, a clean disposal leads to a fresher kitchen! Plus I think this scent really helps lightening up the area and fight those nasty old food smells.
Not to mention that it’s SO easy! Usually you just have to drop a pod in and wait 5 minutes, then you’re set!
2. Use Special Laundry Concoctions
Iām a bit of a laundry fanatic and have two different concoctions that keep my clothes smelling so so good.
For regular clothes, I go with OxiClean paired with Downy Calm Softenerāitās budget-friendly and smells great!
For my towels, sheets, and blankets, I use a special detergent from Bath & Body Works in Coconut Linen. I heard about this gem on TikTok, and it truly lives up to the hype! Since it’s more expensive I use it more sparingly (hence just linens pretty much).
3. Invest in a Pura Smart Diffuser
At the top and bottom of my stairs, I have a Pura smart diffuser. I only run it when we’re home, and I always keep it refilled. Itās a game changer for consistently fresh scents wafting through my house.
Yes I’m a total candle girl too and you might be wondering if you need a diffuser when you have candles but this is perfect for the areas you want to smell good but are afraid to light a flame ha.
4. Deep Clean Your Furniture
I do a deep clean of my couch and chairs twice a yearāonce in the spring and once in the fall. My secret weapon?
The Green Machine! I mix up my own cleaning concoction that outsmells any store-bought cleaner, leaving my furniture fresh for weeks. And you know me, I’m no gate keeper so here’s the recipe:
Seriously, you have to try this little recipe for cleanliness that I created, you’ll love it.
5. Light Up the Best Candles
9.9 times out of 10, when weāre home, thereās a candle burning. Right now, Iām obsessed with a Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes candle from Target.
Iām not exaggerating when I say that every person who walks into my house comments on how good it smells. Itās simply the best! I also find amazing candles at Walmart and HomeGoodsādefinitely check those out for more scent inspiration.
Also I like to pick scents based on the season, I think it’s such a fun way to get into the spirit š
6. Donāt Forget the Small Details
Finally, it’s combining all these elements that creates the dreamiest smelling home.
Use air fresheners in unexpected places, keep a bowl of potpourri out, or simmer spices on the stove. Itās the little touches that make a big impact!
Also when you’re hosting, the food you’re serving will make a big impact on the smell of your home! I love doing fresh baked cookies when guests come over because then the whole place smells delicious.
Creating an yummy scent in your home is a labor of love, but itās absolutely worth it.
Whether youāre hosting friends or just enjoying a quiet evening, the scents will set the perfect mood. Give some of these tips a try, and watch as your guests are greeted with the delightful aroma of your home.
