There is just something about fall that gets me so excited to decorate and sit in front of the fire. This is my first year in my own apartment (wohoo) so I can FINALLY decorate it for a season exactly how I want it.

I always like to have my entrance look cute since it's the first thing guests see when they come over. Plus, if they need help finding my apartment it's easier to give them directions.

I was finding a theme that door mats are expensive and wanted to save some cash so I was able to DIY this "hey pumpkins" door mat and it turned out so cute. Super easy too!!

There is a range of prices but most of them are less than $30. Get a layering rug for underneath the main door mat and it will step up your front door decor by a ton.

DIY FALL DOOR MAT:

I loved a ton of the fall door mats I was seeing, but I was also thinking a lot of "I could do that for half the price" thoughts.

I decided to give it a go and it was actually super fun. It cost me a fraction of the price if I would have had to buy it and overall I consider it a major win.

A girl messaged me on Instagram saying how fun she thought it would be to have a craft night with her girlfriends and do this...thought that was such a cute idea!

The first thing you obviously need to is find yourself a blank door mat. If you're near an Ikea, this will be a piece of cake for you. Ikea sells them for $5 which is an amazing deal. I don't have an Ikea near me so I had to do some hunting. I ended up just ordering on Amazon but I could have got it cheaper somewhere else.

1. Lay Out Your Stencil

fall doormat ideas

I got my stencil from Hobby Lobby and cut it apart so that I could individually lay out letters. This was the way to go and made everything way easier.

For exact instructions on this, make sure to watch my Youtube video on Fall Door Decorations.

I used painters tape to lock these letters down and the was a HUGE help. Definitely use painters tape to your advantage for your fall door mat.

2. Paint Onto Stencil

Okay, so the easiest way I found to do the painting was to blot it down the foam tool and then go back with a paintbrush. That gave it a really nice layer that ended up looking perfffeect.

I also taped each letter down individually and cut a piece of paper out that I used to make sure each letter was equally spaced.

Let dry and you're done!!
