This post is all about easy costumes with normal clothes that can also be super cheap!
Halloween is the best. Who doesn’t love getting all dressed up and going to multiple parties no matter what day of the week it is? My only issue with Halloween is that I’m always on a budget and I hateee spending money on costumes that I’ll only wear once. And I feel like every college kid can relate to this.
Lucky for you, I found 31 easy costumes with normal clothes that you can throw together in absolutely no time at all! These easy costumes are my favorite because they’re cheap, they don’t require a ton of planning, and they’re always ready!
This post is all about easy costumes with normal clothes.
GIRLS EASY COSTUMES WITH NORMAL CLOTHES:
1. Boxer

This is such a cute costume!! If you have a silk robe, sports bra, headband, and some biker shorts you are SET! Throw your hair in some braids and you have a super cute costume, ready to go.
2. Damien from ‘Mean Girls’
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
This is my favorite easy Halloween costume. Seriously, it’s so funny, most people will immediately know who you’re dressed as, and you probably don’t need to buy anything.
It’s a bonus if you have friends dressing up as other Mean Girls characters!
3. Sexy Skeletons
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
This is a classic Halloween costume that we’ll never get tired of!! You can dress this up however you want with black clothing and some face makeup. Depending on what skill level you’re at, you can go for the full half-face skull or just the skeleton mouth.
This is such a good costume because it can be sexy with a sheer top or it can be more reserved in a black hoodie!
4. The Cheetah Girls
Recreate these easy costumes with normal clothes:
This group Halloween costume is too freaking good! If you happen to have a velour tracksuit just laying around, put it to good use and go as a Cheetah Girl for Halloween. I mean come on, these girls are killing it!
5. Cowgirls
Recreate these easy costumes with normal clothes:
A cowgirl is one of the easiest last-minute Halloween costume ideas if you have a cowboy hat on hand!! I honestly can’t recommend it enough to have a little costume bin with things like cowboy hats, bandanas, tiaras, cat ears, etc… I have all of my favorite costume essentials down at the bottom of this post!
6. Daphne & Velma
Recreate these easy costumes with normal clothes:
Wow, just wow!!! These girls are so cute and their costumes are fantastic. Also, these costumes look like they could be completely thrifted, and we’re here for that! Some of my favorite Halloween costumes are modern twists on classic characters.
7. Cat
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
An oldie, but a goodie. A cat costume is about as simple as it gets, but you could spice it up a little with some leopard print. If you can’t find anything leopard print, wear all black and paint some whiskers on your face with eye liner. Then you’re set for the night!
Like I said before, it never hurts to have a pair of cat ears stashed away somewhere in case you need a last-minute costume.
8. Hippies
Recreate these easy costumes with normal clothes:
Hasn’t everyone dressed up as a hippie at some point? If you have a tie-dye shirt and some round sunglasses, you basically have a full Halloween costume!
This set from Amazon comes with six pairs of glasses and six headbands, so it would be perfect for a group costume! You could even tie-dye shirts together.
9. Frat Boys
Recreate these easy costumes with normal clothes:
Funny and super easy! Steal some clothes from your brother, boyfriend, or guy friends, and grab a red solo cup. This costume is extremely easy and you can take on a whole new persona as “Brad” or “Chad” for the night.
10. Tacky Tourists
Recreate these easy costumes with normal clothes:
Did anyone else have this spirit day in high school? This is such a funny costume. Just wear a button down shirt (bonus points if it’s Hawaiian print), a fanny pack, a bucket hat, sandals, and some sunscreen on your nose! That sounds like a lot, but chances are you probably have all of those things at home already!
BOYS EASY COSTUMES WITH NORMAL CLOTHES:
11. Grease
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
How cute and charming is this costume?! This is a costume anyone can pull off with a black or white t-shirt tucked into some pants with slicked back hair. It’s extra cute if you have a person to match with you!
12. Brawny Paper Towel Man
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
This is TOO good! This has to be my favorite guys costume of all time. If you can pull off that hot lumberjack look, this is the costume for you! Just don’t forget to pick up a roll of Brawny paper towels before you head to the party. 😉
13. Dwight Schrute from ‘The Office’
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
This guy is killing it!! If you have a brown suit, you basically have no choice but to dress up as Dwight for Halloween. Bonus points if you make a jello mold with a stapler inside!
14. Devil Costume
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
Have a red shirt and a pair of devil horns? This is basically as easy as a cat costume (maybe even easier)! These ears are only $7.99 and are the perfect costume staple you should always have on hand.
15. Clark Kent
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
Have a Superman t-shirt, some glasses, and a dress shirt? Not only is this Clark Kent costume really easy, but it’s also a pretty hot costume! Extra credit if you add the little curl at the front of your hair!
I am obsessed with planning and made a college planner that CHANGED the game for me when it comes to school and planning.
16. Jake from State Farm
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
Who is that? It’s Jake… from State Farm. This is such a well-known figure; you’ll be the life of the party in this costume. If you have a red polo you can totally pull this look off, but if you have a headset it would be even better!
17. Skeleton
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
Chances are you probably have a plain black t-shirt or a black sweatshirt in your closet, so you can totally make this costume! The face makeup is a super cool addition that really makes the costume too.
You can even cut the t-shirt or sweatshirt to make the costume seem scarier!
18. Iconic Adam Sandler Outfit
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
How funny is this costume? If you’re worried about people not knowing who you are, you can always print this photo out and carry it around! But I wouldn’t worry about that, everyone knows Adam Sandler.
A bonus to this costume is that you will be superrr comfortable all night long.
19. When Life Gives You Lemons Pun
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
If you’re a jokester, this is the costume for you. This is the easiest costume ever because you really only need some lemons and a shirt that says “life”. If you want to DIY the shirt, you can always use black tape and tape out the letters!
20. Men In Black
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
Have a black suit and some sunglasses? This is such a cool and easy costume. But do you know what would be the cherry on top? If you have a pug, you basically have to dress up as Men in Black.
21. Hunter
Recreate this easy costume with normal clothes:
This is such an easy costume, especially if you have hunting gear already. I love this as a duo costume with one partner as a deer too! Even if you don’t have this “hunting” camo, any type of camo would work!
ESSENTIALS FOR EASY COSTUMES WITH NORMAL CLOTHES:
Here are some costume essentials you should keep on hand so you’re always ready to whip up a costume with normal clothes!
22. Face Paint Set
Having a little face paint set on hand is so nice when it comes time for costume parties. If you want to be a skeleton, a clown, or any kind of animal, having face paint is the best!
23. Cowboy Hat & Bandana
Like I said before, having a cowboy hat is a costume essential!! When I went to college I made sure I brought a cowgirl hat because it honestly always came in handy. A bandana is just a bonus!
24. Ears, Horns & Headbands
If you have an all-black outfit, you can add cat ears or devil horns and immediately have a costume. If you have a tie-dye shirt, you can just add a flower crown and now you have a hippie costume. Headbands are the best accessory because they are super cheap and so easy!
25. Sports Jerseys
Everyone has some type of sports shirt or jersey on hand, so you can easily be a sports player for Halloween! If you have some tall socks or some eye black, you can complete the look!
26. Glasses + Tape = Nerd
A nerd was one of my favorite Halloween costumes as a kid. I’ll always remember being so excited about the glasses with the tape! If you have a button-down and some suspenders, slick your hair to the side and wear some glasses taped in the middle.
27. Hats
Hats can really make a costume. Want to be a tacky tourist? You’ll need a bucket hat! Want to be a hunter? Wear a camo hat! If you want to be a robber or a skier, you’ll need a beanie!
28. Sunglasses
You’ve seen these heart sunglasses in pretty much every trendy Halloween costume in previous years! This multi-pack of colorful sunglasses is so fun because you can have a different pair for every occasion and costume!
Wear red for a cupid costume, pink for a barbie costume, yellow for a bee costume, etc…
29. Plain White T-Shirt
So many of these costumes need a plain white t-shirt! You can really make this t-shirt into anything you need for so many different costumes.
If you don’t already have an old white tee to use, they are super cheap on Amazon, at Michaels, or even at Target!
30. Tiara
Having a tiara is a costume closet essential too! You can wear a yellow dress and a crown and call yourself princess Belle, or a blue dress and a crown and say you’re Cinderella!
They’re so cheap (you can probably find one at the Dollar Store) so you really should have one on hand just in case you have a last-minute costume party!
31. Superhero Shirt
Superhero shirts have many uses (as you have seen in this post). You can dress as an actual superhero, a superhero undercover, or even Adam Sandler. There’s a chance you (or someone you know) may already have one of these shirts tucked away in your closet too!
