WE HAVE DRYWALL!! This went from a home, to a house, and we’re back at it feeling like a home again!! The first time I walked into this home with the drywall installed, I may have shed a tear or two ;). Really though, this is a huge step and now that the windows are in, we are flying with construction. Before we know it this house is going to be done (which speaking of, I share the rest of our timeline at the end of this post!!). You’ll be surprised at how soon we are ~planning~ on wrapping this project up.
Sarah is in town and we were reminiscing on how the walls used to look when we first purchased this house…
This is what it looked like when we first purchased it…

What it looked like with all the plaster taken down…

And here it is today!

Can you believe all those photos are taken from the same angle?! The home feels SO much bigger now that the stair wall is opened up. The original plaster was so heavy-looking. I am here for a plaster finish day in and day out, but the plaster that was here was dirty and needed to be taken down. We really are trying to keep as much character of the house as possible, so the office has an ode’ to the original plaster. It’s currently getting repaired, but here’s how the office with the beautiful original curved ceiling is looking…

The drywallers got all of the drywall installed in two days. Two days…for the entire house! I tell you, the people in the construction industry are unbelievable.
Here’s a peek at some of the other spaces opened up…

Doesn’t that curve on the fireplace AND range niche just make you want to drool…such a good addition to the space! ?
A look at the construction timeline...
Remember when I thought this house was going to be done LAST September?! How cute and naive of me ?. We have enough in that now we have a pretty good idea on what the rest of the renovation will look like.
Our general contractor, Coach House Homes, uses CoConstruct to keep our construction schedule together. This is what it’s looking like…
March:

March is going to be a huge month for the house. I am already planning on being there basically every day. I don’t want to miss anything!! Everything from cabinets, countertops, floors, etc is being installed.
Please say a little prayer to the man above to make Wisconsin have four days in a row of weather over 50 degrees. hah! We can’t paint the exterior of this house until the weather cooperates. Currently sitting in an ice storm so I am a little bit nervous about this one.
April:

In April, we’re closing up shop!! Hopefully, at least ;). Once we do the final clean, the BSL team is all flying and we’re getting this baby staged.
House Completely Done and On Market: May 1st.
We’ve got our work cut out for us before then. Everything has been so extended out that now that everything is moving so quickly, I don’t even know what to do!! The prettiest things are being shipped in for the house. Can’t wait to show you it all!
